In another small step towards unnecessarily complicating the procedures, the Ministry of Interior updated the rulebook for temporary residence permit documentation.
From January 2023, the following will be considered valid accommodation proof for persons who are applying for the residence permit:
- A notarized rental contract with the ownership document of the apartment owner;
- The ownership document in cases when the foreigner is the owner of the property in which they will be accommodated;
- Employer’s confirmation of provided collective accommodation, which includes either an ownership document of the employer or the rental agreement and the ownership document of the accommodation owner;
- Accommodation confirmation from a person or company registered for providing accommodation services (Airbnb’s, hotels, etc.).
As seen, the notarized statement of the property owner that a person will live there during the residence period will not be accepted anymore, except in family unification cases. But even in this case, the statement needs to be followed with an ownership document and the rental contract of the person who unifies the family.
At first look, this is not a significant change as most foreigners actually have rental agreements. However, the practice shows various cases in which the statement would be enough and the contract is unnecessary.
